About Me
Janine Sakai
Hi, I'm Janine! I am a Canadian Certified Counsellor (CCC) with the Canadian Counselling and Psychotherapy Association. I trained as a Clinical Counsellor through the Adler School of Professional Psychology and have been working in the counselling field for over 12 years. I have extensive experience in working with children, youth, and families with an expertise in parent education and support services.
I have a Masters Degree in Counselling Psychology and spent most of my career focused on young people in an agency setting, which allowed me to grow my knowledge and experience in helping vulnerable populations with a variety of concerns and struggles.
I strongly believe in the power of healing through a safe and supportive relationship with a caring and compassionate counsellor. I value meeting every individual where they're at and with a non-judgmental approach, I know change is possible.
I have a passion for nature and animals, both of which have been a huge part of my own healing and growth throughout my personal and professional history. I said good-bye to my animal companion in February of 2024. He was a 10lb Jack Russel Chihuahua named Ralph. I miss him dearly and he will always be in my heart. Since saying good-bye to Ralph, I've had the privilege of sharing time with my partner's pup, Cecil, a fun-loving Springer Spaniel. He has definitely provided so much love and comfort and has been a big part of my healing. The loss of a pet can change your life, I'm here to listen if this is something you've experienced or have to face soon. Don't hesitate to reach out if you're suffering the loss of a beloved pet.
